A Cantamus journey
that came full circle.
Elaine is a former member of Cantamus, having been taught by founder Pamela Cook.
After completing her LRAM, Elaine became a vocal tutor with Cantamus in 1980, beginning a long association with the choir and its singers.
Her work has continued to combine vocal tuition, education and a commitment to helping young people develop their musical abilities.

Alongside her private teaching, Elaine taught Music at Saville House School for 22 years.
During this time she directed the school choir, coordinated musical productions and taught music in the classroom.
Elaine is currently responsible for vocal tuition at Ashfield School. She directs the school choirs and coaches pupils for GCSE and A level musical recitals, university auditions and theatrical productions.
The school's senior choir has performed widely, including appearances for local organisations and on BBC Radio Nottingham.

Elaine's musical work has taken young singers beyond their local communities and onto international stages.
Annual concert tours with Ashfield School have included performances in eminent venues such as Cologne Cathedral.
Her work demonstrates the opportunities that music, performance and choral singing can create for young people.

singer to leader.
Elaine's connection with Cantamus began as a young singer taught by Pamela Cook. She later returned to the organisation as a vocal tutor and continues to play an important role in the musical development of its singers.
Her experience as both a former Cantamus member and an experienced teacher gives her a unique understanding of the journey that young singers take.

Elaine's work with young people in the area, both within and outside of school, was recognised with an award from Ashfield District Council in 2013.
PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP
Elaine was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship in 2025 in recognition of the work she has done within the community through her school choir.

Elaine continues to bring her experience, musical knowledge and passion for teaching to the singers she works with.
