Toured Canada and the USA for the second time: Toronto, Mansfield (Ohio), Columbus and Cincinnati.
One of this year's most pleasant musical events. The girls clearly enjoy what they are doing and
have the pleasure of showing the world what girls can do without a bunch of dumb boys hanging around.

| In Columbus, the choir was the only one to sing solo in the Opening Ceremony of Ameriflora '92
where President and Mrs. George Bush officiated. |
| Premiered short staged opera The Sirens and the Sea by Paul Barker, produced by Caroline
Sharman; subsequently repeated in the Buxton International Opera Festival. |
| Hosted two Canadian choirs: The Toronto Children's Chorus and the O'Neill
Collegiate Choir & Orchestra from Oshawa. |
| The Training Choir was founded with Ann Irons as conductor and Joy Nicol as vocal tutor. |
| Represented Great Britain at the European Choral Festival in Namur, Belgium and gave concerts in
Brussels. |
Sang before Princess Paola, now Queen of Belgium, in Namur Cathedral.
The star attraction of the evening was without doubt Cantamus of Mansfield, England. The young
English girls fascinated the public by the soundness of their interpretations and the maturity of
their singing. Their vocal mastery and expressiveness is comparable to that of a professional choir.

Rowan Atkinson, Sir John Mills, Michael Caine, Michael Barrymore, Riverdance, Celine Dion and others. |
| Gave demonstrations and performance at the Association for British Choral Directors convention in
Birmingham; Pamela Cook and Michael Neaum took Master Classes. |

Premiered Dover Beach - a gift by Howard Goodall in admiration and love at St.
Alban's Abbey.

Cantamus won the Choir of the World title at the Llangollen Eisteddfod.
The Training Choir came third in the Children's Class. |
| Mourned the sad deaths of Dick (January) and Hilda (June) Sansom. The Christmas Concert in The
Palace Theatre, Mansfield, was dedicated to them both and a parade showing samples of all the dresses
and character costumes Hilda had made over the years was incorporated. The Sansom Family bursary
was instituted. |
| Premiered Sainsbury's commission Lacemaking by Judith Bingham in Worksop College. |

2nd-6th May Both the Main and Training Choirs won the top award Summa cum laude
in the Neerpelt Youth Music Festival, Belgium with 98 per cent marks.

Pamela Cook's Vocal Technique for Choirs Workshop was a great success - she was subsequently
invited to the next Symposium (Minneapolis 2002). |
